The words from the title of a reading are repeated in the reading. Sometimes the same word is repeated many times. Sometimes words or phrases with the same or similar meaning are used. By knowing the meanings of the words in the title, you can more easily figure out the meaning of the whole reading. A list of words to use in the blanks is given on the left side of the screen in the "reading" section.
The title of a reading tells you the general meaning of the reading. But it tells you more. The title tells you the basic vocabulary that will be used in the reading. Some of the title words will be repeated in exactly the same form. Sometimes other words with the same or related words will be used. This activity gives you practice with working with vocabulary in context based on the title of the reading.
